Top Dog Carting

The points for the ARC Top Dog Carting Awards are based on class placements and wins at ARC-approved Carting Tests from January 1 through December 31, as reported to the ARC Carting Coordinator. There are six levels of awards: Started, Intermediate, Excellent, Started-Team, Intermediate-Team, and Excellent-Team. The points are calculated as follows:

Placement: The dog must place in its class, then one point is counted for each dog defeated in the class. For example, if a dog placed first in a class that had 10 entries shown, the dog earns nine points (10 class entries minus one for the dog itself).

High in Trial: A High in Trial win is calculated as the trial’s total entry (as reported to the ARC Carting Coordinator) minus one point.

Reserve High in Trial: Reserve High in Trial is only counted on Armetale Day at the ARC National Specialty. Reserve HIT is calculated as the test’s total entry (as reported to the ARC Carting Coordinator) minus two points.

Teams: A team counts as one entry.

Effective 2008, dogs must have a minimum of 5 points to be in the final rankings in the Carting Started and Carting Intermediate Levels; in Carting Excellent and all Team Levels, there is no minimum.
