Top Dog Herding

The points for the ARC Top Dog Herding Awards are based on class placements and wins at AKC licensed trials from January 1 through December 31, as reported in the AKC Rottweiler Award Reports. Beginning in 2018, the American Rottweiler Club recognizes three levels of awards: Started, Intermediate and Advanced. The points are calculated as follows:

Placement: The dog must place in a class, then one point is counted for each dog defeated in the class. For example, if a dog placed fourth in a class of 10 entries shown, the dog earns 6 points (10 entries shown minus 4).

High in Trial: Points for a High in Trial win are calculated as the show’s total entry (as listed in the AKC “Awards” publication) minus one point.

Reserve High in Trial: Points for Reserve High in Trial are calculated as the show’s total entry (as listed in the AKC “Awards” publication) minus two points.

Dog must have a minimum of 5 points to be in the Final Top Dog Awards.

**Prior to 2018, there was only 1 award level, with all Herding Classes being combined**
