Nominations may be submitted by clubs or individuals for the ARC MEMBER who has made a difference in the world of purebred dogs in the past year (2008). An individual may only receive this award once. The recipient shall receive the medallion provided by AKC.Past recipients include: Doris Baldwin; Pansy Roberts. Primary consideration for this award will be given to those who have unselfishly devoted their time and the ability of their Rottweiler to improving their community or enhancing the lives of others. Nominations may be submitted by local clubs or individuals and must be made by verifiable documentation – include letters of commendation, accreditation, newspaper clippings and an explanation of why the Rottweiler should receive the award, etc. The owner need not be an ARC member. Applications will be reviewed and approved by the ARC Board.The Mirko Medallions are offered by Donna Banker Rice through the American Rottweiler Club to all recipients. Applicants must have a minimum of 25 hours in a given year (2007) donating their time and ability of their Rottweiler to any one or a combination of the following:
All applications must include verification of hours sent by an appropriate official (such as hospital staff member, regional club officer, obedience instructor, therapy dog organization officer, etc.) Letters of commendation, accreditation and all pertinent data should be attached. Nominees need not be ARC members. Nominations may be made by clubs or individuals and all applications will be reviewed and approved by the ARC Board. Specially designed medallions are offered by Donna Banker Rice through the American Rottweiler Club to all recipients. Please Submit by March 1, 2009 to: Einstein Award for Outstanding Rottweiler AmbassadorThis award will be presented posthumously to a deserving canine candidate who died in the calendar year prior to the National Specialty (2007) and who was distinguished in the area of therapy, rescue or education. All nominations should highlight the dog’s accomplishments over the course of its lifetime and be accompanied by no fewer than three reference letters and other proof of accomplishments. The nominated Rottweiler does not need to have any titles, nor does the owner need to be a member of ARC. It is the intent that only one award be given each year; however, in unusual circumstances more than one may be conferred or if there are no qualified applicants, then no award may be given. Dede Brownstein will make a recommendation for the ARC Board’s approval. A perpetual trophy will be maintained by Dede and Mark Brownstein and the recipient will receive an engraved plaque for permanent possession. number, the owners, the owner’s Please Submit by March 1, 2009 to: In 2005, the ARC Board approved the addition of two new awards: American Rottweiler Club Good Samaritan AwardA letter of recognition and a certificate will be awarded to any person who, in the opinion of the ARC Board of Directors, has aided and/or promoted an individual Rottweiler or our breed in some outstanding way. This award is intended for someone who does not own a Rottweiler, but it does not preclude someone who does from being honored.American Rottweiler Club Heroism AwardA letter of recognition and a certificate will be awarded to any Rottweiler that, in the opinion of the ARC Board of Directors, has performed an act of “heroism”. The dog need not be owned by an ARC member.Nominees for either of the above awards may be submitted to the ARC Board at any time during the year, when the act/incident for which they are nominated occurs. Nominations may be made by anyone; they do not have to be an ARC member. After the Board has approved the award, the ARC Secretary will mail the letter and certificate to the recipient(s) of the award(s). At the same time information about the recipient and the circumstances of the act will be submitted to the ARK Editor for publication in the next newsletter and to the ARC Webmaster for the ARC website. There is no limit to the number of times this award may be approved in a given year, nor is there any requirement that any need be presented.
